Yeah, this is my second Porsche (briefly owned a 77 911s for a few months before this). Coming from extensive BMW background I have to say this is a real bitch. I have to buy a $200 yoke, probably get an additional wider engine stand, and lift table just to start/finish the job. Good thing I love my car!
Oh yeah just found out today that a simple tranny mount is $366, an equivelant BMW part would probably cost $30...sigh. OEM Engine mounts $200+ each geez!....I'm going w black comnpound WE-VOs there!

Engine is out, and all the bits are coming off for cleaning and assessment. Also Engine sheet metal is going to powdercoat, might get a lil funky with color choice

Your lucky your able to send them off for painting, mine had rusted through in places so had to buy a whole new set, very expensive!!!! Agree with doing something a little different with them though. Adding some support to the engine carrier while it's out is a good idea.

Thanks for the pictures, I was thinking of going gold as well! I am hoping to buy a pre re-enforced carrier ready to go, but looks like rennline is out of stock....

Your welcome. Any good engineering shop should be able to make something up for you although the Rennline piece is very nice. The problem with a "while i'm in there" engine drop is knowing when to stop.

Yes, that is my problem as well. Knowing when to stop.........Is your fan powder coated or painted?
