Looking good Sam, and cheers for the positive feedback on H&R!

Where did you get with this?

I'm having the same dilemna - especially after seeing a recent thread with well priced Bilsteins mentioned ...

Cheers, Lee

It seems like all the fast cars at the local autocross events run their coilovers.
I have an AST suspension on my BMW race car and I love it. I think I'm going to give the AST 4150 a shot for my 964, its a little more fairly priced than some of the competition and I have always liked the very noticable differences between each click on the AST shocks. They also have a 5100 series geared more towards dedicated track cars.

your first step is to decide on spring rates & budget.

please advise outcome when complete.

then we can review options.

why waste time talking about 600lb JIC Cross if you want 250lb Eibach?

why waste time talking about KW Clubsport if you want 800lb Cup springs?

That's one of the things I don't like about some coil overs, you are stuck with getting the springs they select for their setup. I like the way you can select the spring rates you want on the AST stuff. I may give the 4150 a try and report back how it works out since it doesn't seem like anyone has tried it yet.

See page 46 of Nski's project Amazon thread. I guess we'll find out from him what they're like when he gets it on the road.......in a couple more years.

Im looking for a set of coilovers for my 1990 C4 964 to replace my worn stock suspension with a height adjustable kit. The price of the KW V3 kit is very expensive in the UK and I have been checking eBay.com for other manufacturers.

I have noticed that both the JIC Magic / Cross kit and the Kido Racing kit are much cheaper. Does anyone have any experience of these kits? I know that they wont be as adjustable as the KW3s, but I just want a starter kit (needs to be height adjustable front and rear though!)

Many thanks in advance
Chris
Depends on what you want out of the car
Bilstein or H&R Cup shocks revalved for the springs and car are the nuts
Bilstein B6 are a somewhat less costly alternative

600/800# springs w/ the proper matching valving are perfectly streetable

Hopefully he's figured that out by now, considering this was originally posted two years ago.

This thread was started two years ago and only revived yesterday by someone else so it's a bit harsh to criticize the OP at this late stage. For all we know he might have got the info he needed and made his choice a long time ago?

e mailed them a few months ago after they said they would be making parts for the earlier cars as well

No response... (could well have dodged a bullet, see here

)

I think these are the same under a different brand name

No, was supposed to be Bravuraspeed (who as you can see from previous are proper cowboys)

Norm had a set from them
