Default Hesitation

Apart from the rear spoiler not working, I noticed a 2 second hesitation while driving today. It done this to me before. No power for a couple of secs then when I press the accelerator i get a short rush of power.

Any suggestions. Will pass this one to my mechanic when I see him today.

The mechanic has come to have a look and has noticed my alternator's gone. So this could have been the hesitation problem. T

Wouldn't have thought that would explain the hesitation with the throttle response would it?

Does the hesitation correspond to any specific driving condition? It's a common fault that the car hesitates immediately after coasting downhill with a closed throttle.

Yeah mine seems to do this a bit as well. Its not so much coasting downhill as it is just driving along at a steady speed (usually driving around 35 MPH), then rolling on the throttle and experiencing a hesitation for a second. What causes this?

Yes, this is the problem, was coasting through a tunnel, and the previously down a slope just to find an unresponsive gas pedal.

Change DME relay fist. Fuel pump if it does not work.

Mine started off like that, and progressively got worse, to the extent that it prob only fired on half the cylinders and went into limp mode. Exacerbated when it got hot.

The problem were the coilpacks which showed they were normal at the shop through the system check.

Changed them both, and car's fine.

If it always happens at the same rpm it could be a "bad spot" in the air flow meter mechanism.

Is this at WOT or any amount of throttle? If it is WOT then check the WOT switch.

I remember readnig (on this forum, i think) about issues when engine is cold and car is taking off from the lights or something, but dont know if this would be the same as when the engine is warm and going car already moving.

Tony C, I had a similar problem and I called the previous owner who told me to check the 3rd plug lead below the power steering fluid reservoir as it leaked slighty onto the lead causing a short. I dried if off yesterday and bingo no more hesitation.
