Carrera Goes Up In Flames in NJ
Its a shame...A beautiful Carrera goes up in flames in Somerville NJ with flames coming out the back window...
My guess was it was related to an oil fire possibly....
Picture is in the Home News Tribune...

The '92 Targa I've got sitting at my friend's for the taking was a baby version of a fire like that. Ended up figuring out it was the intake hard fuel line that was crimped and finally fatigued from a previous engine R&R. Up around the starter area.
Sad that it happened on my watch, but luckily I was going down a residential street where a guy who was working on his own car happened to see me go by with a small flame out of the decklid grille. Grabbed an extinguisher, and definitely prevented what could have been a total mess. But man did that dry chemical do a number on everything, so the car was totaled

Water-cooled before the fire breaks out... and water-cooled after.
Seems pretty young to have one of the fuel components going south.
Likelier, some mechanic's malfeasance.

My first car, a 1984 Buick Electra Estate Wagon, burned to the ground in 1992. Not really the same I guess...
