Default Cabrio Hood Cleaning & Water Proofing

What product have you used & can recommend to clean and, importantly, reseal our mohair hoods. I've always liked Autoglym products and they offer a kit for this. Any experience??

I've used the Porsche factory top protectant. It works very well. The only downside is that its time consuming to apply because you have to mask off the car's paint and rear window. Next time, I plan on trying Ragg Topp.

Porsche is who sold me the Ragg Topp. I found the easiest way to do the top is to unlatch the front and take a old sheet and close it in the doors over the window and slide the sheet under the front of the top. All you need to do then is mask the rear window and throw another sheet over the back.

Jim - I did a similar thing but was under the impression you didn't have to mask with Ragg Topp. Maybe I'm misinformed.

unless its changed in the last couple of years you do have to protect the paint and windows.

+1 on the Ragg Top

slightly off topic...
I've noticed that the removable cover (boot?) that goes over the top when it is down is showing signs of abrasion/rubbing. The dark blue color of the canvas in these spots will be whiteish. Is there a way to bring back the color in these spots? The spots are actually not worn that I can see...at least not yet...just discolored.

I've touched up my cab's roof with black india ink before weatherproofing it. I'm not sure if you can find a permanent ink that matches. Try asking as an architect or art store.

I'd highly recommend trying Renovo cleaner and re-proofer. Water beads like on polish.

I went to amazon.com to buy RaggTop, but the reviews were bad. The reviews for 303 Protectant were better.

Bought the 303 and applied it last weekend. It rained today and the water beaded off. Happy with it.

No affiliation with any of the products or companies.

I used the renovo cleaner and also the protectant on my 996 cab and it worked brilliantly.

Steve,

I have the same problem with my blue 993 top canvas which is only one year old. It looks like a white or dull spot and I have a few of them. They seem to be the result of the top rubbing against itself when folding down. I had the first top replaced under warranty for this problem, but it's back again and I have no idea what's causing it. Does anyone have any ideas what the cause is and how to fix it??

+1; that's what I used on my 964 Cabriolet.

Their waterproofer is great; heard mixed things about their cleaner but it worked OK for me. The waterproofer is, as said above, amazing...water beads off like waxed paintwork.

Has anyone ever tried putting on a complete new top before? The prices are really attractive now and I am considering doing it myself.

Yes, someone did an install a few years ago. They converted to using a 993 roof.
