It has been suggested to me by several people to try Redline shockproof lightweight gear oil in my G50 to smooth out shift and also provide excellent protection, especially on the track.
I currently run Mobil delvac 75/90 but find the shift especially from 2nd to 3rd is very notchy and an absolute pain after a few laps when the transmission is getting hot.
I have steel synchros on 2nd and 3rd and am about to install RS engine mounts as i believe this also helps.
Has anyone used the Redline shockproof lightweight and if so what experiences have they had. I have heard of a blue sludge build up but the tech guys at redline assure me this is just a by product and doesn't have any effect. It also leaves a coating on the gears which freaks some people out but apparently that is part of it's properties and what helps it do what it does. The explanation being that it is not an 'oil' as such and therefore doesn't behave as an oil however as a lubricant and in it's ability to hold together at a molecular level at high temperatures and shearng froces it is exceptionally good.
I should mention that I run an open diff due to my class of racing.
Cheers

I recommended Delvac as being the most recommended on here in a thread last week about lubes. Well, it was when I researched it about a year and a half ago. But after the comments on Redline products. I'm starting to second guess the performance of my trans. Shifting's OK, but there does seem to be some whine with increased speed.
I'd also like to hear what anyone has to say about the Redline.

The 993 board folks have been talking about the 75/90ns with good reviews. I was going to give it a go in my '91 C4 in the next few weeks. Not sure if the 'shock proof' variety you mention is the same product.

You need a GL-5 rated product such as 75w-90 NS which works very well in many transmissions.
