I think all of us should read the 6 age current thread o air boxes in this forum. Very interesting reading.
It seems that every option other than the stock airbox actually raises intake temps so you would think they all LOOSE power. So why do the cup airboxes and SOME pod filter installations dyno with more power? I reckon the way to go would be to have the pod filter somehow attached to the wing so it lifts into the airstream and gets coldest air possible.

On the dyno the engine lid is almost always left open, which allows the open airbox to take in ambient air vs. the pre-heated air that it would be ingested if the engine lid were closed
