HELP finding used Cabriolet part!!
Looking for part # 911 561 927 00 70B (Main folding top bow) for the right side of my '91 C4 cabriolet top.
Searching this great forum, I've found a bunch of info on this flimsy part, but nothing very recent. Looks like several folks purchased this back in '03/'04 new for around $400. Now, Porsche must know the problems with this support and the price for a new one is $2,200. Talk about highway robbery!!
So, I need to either find a used one for a reasonable price, or go the welding route, which I think has wielded mixed results. According to my guy, it's made of "pot metal" which is porous and tough to weld.
Any info/recommendations on getting a used part or welding info would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried the chop shops...like here (there are others)...this company will allow you to "wait list" if they do not have 1 in stock

Burning Brakes
I am in the same situation but need the other side (911.561.928.00 70B). Mine is currently braced with a steel plate. When I checked with Porsche a few years ago, the new part was ~$900. Now looks like a lot more now.

How?
Hey, Duck. How did you brace it? Will the top go up and down with the brace on? Did you look into welding it?

Burning Brakes
rswan55,
The top goes up and down manually. I would not dare hooking it back up for automatic operation as I do not think everything is lined up. I just sanwiched the plate between folding part and the seal. Looks okay, but would rather have a non-broken part.
944/951guy,
My email is mgduckworth@msn.com if you have the other side as well.
Thanks.
