Default I hurt my 964...

a bad (by frost) stretch of highway (it had holes and loose pieces of tarmac) caused a slide, I managed to keep the 911 on the road but hit a concrete rim with my left rear wheel.... the wheel broke and the suspension
was damaged. I am to blame ... but the government in the Netherlands who empties our pockets with new and raised taxes is also responsible !!! we pay enough to have them keep the roads in good condition,
example how we are taxed in the Netherlands ? a litre gasoline costs 1,50 euro
thats about 2 usd, a gallon in the USA would cost around 7,50 usd if you had that tax regime... is it too much asked to maintain the roads ???

Ouch! That must have been a terrifying few seconds. I'm glad you are unhurt. Cars can be repaired.

As for the poorly maintained roads, I agree. The taxes that we pay should be sufficient. Some our roads in the US are pretty bad too.

Gees, Glad your ok.

The roads over here in the UK are in a real mess too. We've had a harsh winter and the frost has left bad pot holes everywhere. I won't drive my 911 at the moment as the roads are in such a state, and the broken tarmac from the pot holes leaves piles of gravel all over the road, usually half way round each corner! The holes will get patched up on the cheap and then just break up again next year!!!

What happened to the front PU and your cill trim, did the kerb get them too?? Looks like it could have been alot worse!

Sorry Rarebear, if it makes you feel any better were headed down the same road in the US. Good luck getting your car fixed up.

after hitting the concrete wal that separates the road, I skidded to the right where there is a barrier that ends in the ground, just scraped the front over that last piece of barrier. How unlucky can you get ! but my grandson and me where unharmed.. the P is soo strong ! any other car bar a Hummer would have been bent/destroyed.. the P is a hard car and "only" the suspension was offset (the rearwheel was bent inwards and the wheel broken !)
The car is now being rebuild and maybe in a week or two I have it back, insurance pays ...pffff
will be around 20.000 euros (engine is out and the gearbox is broken (see pc)... so a new gearbox, 9500 euro !!!!)

Glad you and the grandson are ok. That must have been a solid hit to do that damage.

Will the insurance company really repair ther car at that cost instead of giving you money? And 9500€ for a new gear box?! This is an old car so the gearbox should be a second hand unit. Sounds like the insurance policy in the Netherlands is very "friendly"...but that's good news for you :-)

rarebear,
Oh no! Didn't you just purchase your 964?
I'm glad your grandson and you are ok.
As you said, these are strong cars.
