Default Aftermarket or OE brake pads

Hey guys need to change the brake pads on the 964 for the first time. What is everyones opinion, original porsche or aftermarket pads and which brand.

It's my daily driver, may do some track events in summer with PCA but nothing too aggressive.

I think mine are Hawk ceramic. Had trouble with squeaking so went the ceramic route. No squeaking and less break dust. I do not track mine though.

I have Hawk high performance pads on mine. Haven't tracked them yet but the work nicely on the road and don't squeak (yet!)

Until you realize that your laziness in not removing the blues in the front brakes for some casual track time almost causes you to write off a car when the pedal disappears on you going into T14 at Thunderhill............

I'm pretty much a "use stock" with fresh fluid until you're past the beginner-on-track stage. Then I proceed straight to the oranges.

Ken, do you suggest going to Pagid Orange in both front and rear? I dropped in a set of Orange into the fronts at Road America on my first DE there (replacing a set of Hawk HPS that were nearly gone after the first day). What a big improvement. I tried keeping them in for daily drive, but just too noisy.

What about bedding them in, when I drop them in for a track day? And then, do I need to clean up the rotors and re-bed the daily driver pads?
Thanks,

Thanks,
I've been happy with orange front/blue rear, but had only casually used them since just throwing in oranges all around was easy with it being the same application front and rear. Plus, the 930 calipers on the two other torsion bar cars I had and/or maintained at the time meant it was easier to properly stock the trailer.....

I'm not the guy to best answer the street/track pad dance since I either don't get bothered enough by track pads the little bit a car is driven on the street, or it's a car that doesn't get driven on the street. So the bedding, etc. advice is best coming from someone else.

Oddly, what I have in the RSA right now because they were given to me is some HT-10 fronts and HPS rears. And I threw them on well-used rotors. They've held up for the ~200 track miles during the fall. But do those HT-10's dirty up the front wheels!

There isn't a heck of a lot of difference / enough of a difference between the Blues and the Oranges...proceed to the Yellows, by a long shot, IF you do hot and heavy track work.

Were yellows available in the 964/930/etc. fitment 8-10 years ago?
