I was hoping someone here could tell me what a 964 Speedster looks like in the rear seat area?
it's impossible to find pictures of anyones car with the clamshell open, looking down into the back. So, they must look a lot like an RS, back there then.

FWIW: when I was in your shoes, I bought a pristine RSD from a RLer for this purpose, but decided against installation due to added weight. They're heavier than they look.
For my purposes, it contradicted the RS / Speedster concept of lightweight performance (just IMHO), but they're great for those who need the convenient storage space.

JP-- A PM or two ago, you asked about the difference in 1989 vs. 1994 Speedster parts. Let me know if you'd like photos of related 1989 rear 'seat' areas. If so, I'll try to post them here later this week. In the meantime, enjoy this gorgeous & rare photo of Don's gorgeous & rare Speedster.
Remember, only ~425 Speedsters were imported to the USA in 1994.
IIRC, Don's is one of only five factory Polar Silver 964 Speedsters in the world!

To be honest, I don't think the RSD is a practical installation for a Speedster because it limits the space and access to it under the clamshell. Original Speedsters had what they called a 1/2 Tonneau which covered the area that the clamshell covers. I used to store things back under it when I parked the car on the street, out of site, out of mind and I never had problems. I imagine there's still room for a couple of jackets even with the top down, but an RSD would eliminate more than 1/2 that useable space.

BTW, anymore news/info about the package we discussed in a previous p.m.?
Thanks,

Jon Paul-- Very glad you're enjoying the info I'm thinking OEM, but best to ask Don himself; may want to PM DonW-Cape Cod. RLer Blake's an incredible expert on these Speedsters, & may have a better impression whether more were delivered with RSDs.Knowing your voracious appetite for 911 Speedster knowledge (which would be SO COOL ... if I wasn't in the quagmire of academic obligations right now ), I'm impressed by your patience. Bad busy night for me, but just logged on for the reason to zap you a PM with an update I received today. Happy to see your well-timed post. The latest: looks to be "taken" / reserved; hasn't shipped. If it re-emerges on the market, I'll make sure I get the good news to you promptly.
Wishing you Speedster dreams ... G'Night!

1989
IIRC, this was born as a more normal 911, & converted to a concours-winning Speedster...
IIRC, this was born a 1989 Speedster & converted to a 993 body; NOT a concours-winner

1994 (remember: much fewer produced, compared to 1989s)

Well, the luggage dumps in the '89's are very different, aren't they? And it appears that the '89 clamshell and it's hinging mechanism, top bows, top canvas and windshield latching are all different than the 964 Speedster design which isn't suprising. After all, the cars are 5 years apart.
