Default Car is on ONLY 3 jack stands!?!?!

I jacked the car up on all four jack stands today for the first time ever. As I was pulling off the rocker panels (side skirts) on the driver's side, I noticed that the driver front jack stand was not sitting tight under the jack point.

What the &@#$?? This can't be normal, right? What should I do?

Are you sure your garage is level?

The 964 is a lot stiffer than what I remember of the early year cars. Hopefully, your floor is not level and not the car bent up.

Perfectly normal, assuming it isn't by a large margin. Either your floor is not level or one of your jack points is slightly crushed. My car doesn't sit down on 4 points either. There is not much weight on the front, and the jack points take a beating. I am a little surprised that the cabs are that stiff though.

Same for me, but I KNOW my floor isn't level. The body is really stiff!

Keep in mind that it takes 3 points to define a plane so .... (theoretically) as long as the car is very stiff it will alway rest on only 3 jacks.

Maybe I'll put some shims under the loose jack stand.

BTW, I'm able to get into the garage during this time of year because I just installed my Christmas present; a 5000W, 240V electric heater. It was 65 degrees in there last night.

I envy your new found heat!

What was your procedure for getting it up on 4 er 3 Jackstands?

Standard procedures, jack under right rear jack point, jack stand under right front jack point. Repeat on left side. Jack under case, jack stands under left and right rear jack points.

Heater installed (no affiliation)
