Then buy a C2. The C4 you are looking for isn't going to be the perfect car for you since that's not what you want.

Excuse me for asking but why do you prefer C2 over C4? I have a C2 and many times would like it to be C4 here up in the north, w ice & snow...

New to DE? If so, don't put the cart before the horse. Nothing you'll be doing for a long time will even remotely get you to the differences of RWD v. AWD. And a few minor changes will make an AWD drive car behave in a pretty benign manner. Ultimately, I found it was about 1 sec/min of lap time between my '92 C4 and the similarly prepared RS Americas of friends (circa 1998-2000).

I did it in 2008 and agree that it was expensive. First, a 6-speed is hard to find because they are popular for kit cars. I found one at weekendrides.com for about $5,500 and had it shipped to Bryan Copan for a rebuild. Then I had it shipped to TPC in Maryland for the install. It was not simple and required quite a few parts, including 993 crossmember, C2 shifter assembly and mounting hardware, short shift, new front spindles, tie rods, ABS sensor axile upgrades, on top of R&R the old gearbox, shifter, and associated components. But in the end, I love it!
