Hello everybody, i would like to see if someone could give me some advice here.
Last night after driving my C2 for 50 miles pulled into the driveway and the car started idling funny it would go up and down to 200rpms then it died so i turned it back on and was running a little rough and the engine light came on went for a drive and it didnt seem to get any better, turned it back off and went to get some oil cause i was a little low and then the light dissapeared,i filled up the oil to normal level and it felt like it was running way smoother and light hasnt come back on.
I replaced my DME relay not long ago because mine was starting to have issues when starting the car, could it be the relay again or a MAF sensor or something like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Great forum BTW .
Hard to say without any other info. Could be anything from bad fuel to intermittent sensor connectors to shorting ignition wires and probably a dozon other possible causes. Probably nothing to do with oil level though.
I have an aftermarket MAF and chip in my '90 C2 and whether it's related to that or not, the Check Engine light occassionally comes on for no apparent reason when it's just been started. I do have a ScanTool though so I can go in and check for anything serious (never has been) and reset any minor flags.
Do you have a MAF or an AFM that can make a difference. I would look for vacuum leaks (loose hoses) especially around the ISV. Also perhaps clean the ISV. The items that i am mentioning are more a symptom or fix for a rough idle. Also, reset the dme under the drives seat with a 30 second disconnect. That may help the check Engine light from comming back on if it was an anomaly.
Can't speak to the Check Engine Light, but I would check the following for a hunting Idle. Distributor Cap and Rotor, Coils, ISV and any loose or degraded hoses/connections around the airbox, ISV, etc.
i have no clue if i have a MAF or a AFM i have a 94 Carrera 2, havent checked anything yet, but i will start doing all the check and cleaning up the ISV and also doing the DME reset, when i replaced the DME i didnt do any reseting.
