So I am looking to buy a 911 type vehicle. Have a 928 and 944 already, but always wanted a 911 type.
I have been noticing the 964 and the guys on rennlist with these vehicles. Now they have grow on me. So what is the normal cost for a 964, the years made and any know headaches.

For the rest, best to just do a quick search. Lots of info here. Outside of the head seal issues with 1990-91 cars, dual mass flywheel (I doubt there are cars out there still with these issues not corrected)... I don't think there is much....
Keep in mind that these cars are now 20 years old... so you have to add the normal stuff that comes with age (oil lines needing replacement for example)

I agree the gasket issue was there but I would say most if not all have been corrected at this point.
You will or might have airbag or abs light on the dash. mine has the airbag light think just needs a new clock which I have and sensor kit but never installed yet.
Other then a few things here and there they are very reliable cars. They do have dual distributors which are not a big deal. The motor is very solid and so is the car overall.
I love the performance and handling. It is leaps and bounds over the older model 911's

So what is the price ranges and the years of MFG. I will see a few of you on the 25 of Oct for the BBQ, there i can see first hand what the cars are about.

89-94 89 had only the C4 then 90-94 had both the C2 and C4.
I did not notice a price difference with a specific year because the cars as far as I know were the same.

The series' 'bookends' were unique vehicles:
- '89 was the only year w/o airbags. (no price premium)
- '94 only had wide-bodied C4's (significant price premium)
- No C2's in either year

1992 (and there are some reports of 93's) had a very limited edition cab. with turbo look body (turbo brakes and suspension)...in the U.S. branded as 'america roadster', everywhere else known as C2 turbo look.

I have a 89 964 (C4) I love the car! I have done a few mods - B&B exhaust which give it a nice growl - RS door panels - Cup Fly wheel - revs much faster - Steve Wong Chip - I can't really bolt-on any more HP -
My car still needs some minor work to suspension items tie rods and oil line as pointed out on the above posts all basic stuff. I have to say my car feels solid the C4 tranny is very stout . The only issue I feel is that the car needs a little more power. That power comes at a great cost per HP. Many discussion around Supercharger or Turbo but the car needs about another 70 -100rwhp.

Despite being 20 years old, my 1990 C2 has no cabin creaks/sounds/annoying noises. Pretty good! I know there are premiums for the 3.6 turbo, but what about the 3.3 Turbo S2?
