Got a brand new battery for the car a couple of months before it started its "sitting"....ofcourse it would be all drained out now, but bought a battery recharger, and was thinking to recharge the battery overnight before attempting to start it up....no good???

It appears from the first photo that what looks like dust and the areas it has accumulated on, that it may have been driven in the same area the photo was taken?

A brand new battery thats been used for a day and then sat unused and uncharged for 10 months is going to be a very very unhappy battery . If it charges at all it will be a very questionable battery . Try to charge it , if it takes a charge , run the car around for a week before heading off on your 250 km trip .
