c4consult,

Thanks for the mention, I appreciate that and all the other cars here that RL'ers have very obviously poured such passion, time and dollars into ! I will however admit to lusting for the clean interior sheetmetal as in the orange car pictured above. To me, there are few things better than making a Porsche into a unique thing that reflects the values and aspirations of the owner.

I'll raise a painfully dry martini this evening in honoring my "truly afflicted" brethren here. I was once stressed over jumping into the air-cooled Porsche world after having owned a raft of track-prepped 951's, but the many threads of outstanding thought here got me 'round that in short order and I'm very glad to be a steward of "driving in it's purest from", and to me that (still) means an air-cooled Porsche !

There's just nothing quite like a Sunday morning italian tune-up in a 911 eh ?

I'm going to try and restart this thread....must be some more great cars to add to the list (and I'm sure those that originally posted have transformed their cars numerous times since the original post....)

BUMP.

Wow, cool to see this thread is still going almost 3 years after I started it...funny, I haven't posted my own car yet, even though I followed many of the ideas and suggestions I found in this thread. I'll have to take some decent pics when I get a minute!

Great idea for a thread! I've got a set of OEM Cups and the original decklid and I plan to swap to the pure RS look occasionally although I'm currently running the Ruf's and ducktail...

Current cofig:
- RS flywheel/PP/clutch setup
- Steve Wong chip
- B&B header exhaust
- Cup heater bypass (cf)
- RS front ducts (cf)
- Fiberglass rear ducktail
- RS engine mounts
- Rennline engine gusset
- Ruf 17" 964 wheels, refinished by Skips in OR
- KW V3 coilovers
- Rennline front camber plates
- Walrod and Powerflex bushings (front/rear)
- M030 front sway
- Cup rear drop links
- Drilled airbox (mostly for sound, but hey if Weiner says it's good for 2hp, I'm game)

I am in the planning stages for my next project. So far I have set aside:
-thin rear glass without defroster
-2 RS original seats,
-Rear side carpet, and seatbelt reel boxes
-Alloy front lid
-Supercup "Porsche" engraved Momo 07

BTW, a tiny tidbit: genuine RSs did not have front brake venting ducts, but dummy fog lenses without lights behind.

True, i thought about trying to find a set, but i just don't like the look of foglights with clear corners without bumperettes. You have 5 pieces of clear plastic that are all slightly different shades, and it just looks a bit fiddly to me - the "brake ducts" clean the look up to me (plus I tell myself the oil cooler gets more airflow...). Looks good with amber turn signals though.

Thanks Kai! Can't wait to see yours completed!

I'd love to get a photo of our cars together when yours comes outta Rothsport - the red and blue together would be pretty awesome.

Looks like a universal delrin shift ****.

Example:

(Corvette site, but you get the point).

Google around for one with multiple set screws and locktite the sh*t out of them when you mount it. I had a screw-on one similar in my old Subaru and liked it.
