You have leather dash and leather center console!!!
A switch to a black RS carpet set, new e-brake handle, a set of leather Recaro Pole Positions, a Competition Momo steering wheel... It would make an awesome DD/DE car!!
I want to wish you good luck on the sale... but deep down I hope you end up keeping it.

Not a fan of leather (for street or track) and the black dash (new btw) and the grey look good IMO. I dislike overly dark interiors but YMMV. The next owner can put his own personal stamp on the car now. It doesn't "need" anything- but if he/she want leather PP's- go for it.

I too like the grey/black combination. That is why I did not say anything about changing the door panels or center console... just that a black carpet is easier to maintain than a grey one.
Best of luck with the sale.

That is a great looking car (love that color on a 964!) and has obviously had a lot of time, effort and care put into it. I personally would be looking for low to mid $30s...might be a looong sale, but since you don't sound like you're hurting to sell it, I wouldn't worry about it.

it sounds like a very well done car but you have the following challenges from a potential buyers:
1- clean 996gt3 cars are now in the upper 40s
2- Its only a DE car as the 3.8 motor would put you in an non competitive class for pca racing - e.g. you cant run in the 964 classes
3- a 964 class winning really well sorted, well known race car recently sold only for $32-33k (owner started asking 45 or 48k) on the east coast .. car was on pelican forums for a long time.
i think you should try for low 30s but it is going to be a small buyer base and possibly a long wait. Upper 20s would probably get it sold in a reasonable time frame.
That said, its a great color and a beautiful car.

I hear you but to a certain extent somewhat of an apples and oranges comparison.
If you want a faster, newer, less involving car that is a 996 water pumper at heart (albeit a great one) go for the GT3 (but I haven't see any good ones sub $50k). Assuming $50k vs. $35k that's still a pretty big percentage delta though.
Just like why don't you sell your '96 TT and get an 01' TT and pocket the $$ difference- the newer car is better in every objective way, no? Why buy any 964/993 when you can get a newer, lighter mileage 996 for the same or less money? Anyone here with a 964 or 993 knows the answer.

david,
im not comparing your car to a 996gt3, but more that you are in some ways competing with the same buyer base at this price point (e.g. above 30k and less than cup car prices). For example, there is a nice atlas gray gt3 on the 996gt3 forum for 48k with decent mods; many others are asking in the 50s.
A potential DE car buyer might consider a GT3 due to falling prices as well as your car. Many people here have switched to/from gt3 to 964/rsa platforms. While they are somewhat different, i can see a potential buyer going either way. Furthermore, 15k is not a big delta when you consider the costs of wearables to keep our cars running on the track.

I was in the market for a Porsche to use for Auto X and DE events. I wanted it to also remain 'street legal' but have performance specifications. My budget was $30K and this allowed me to look at 03 996's. After reviewing over 100+ cars over a 6 month period, I chose a 964 instead. Many reasons went into the selection process but ended up with a good Porsche 964.
David, your car has value and the right person will come along who can appreciate the car and afford your asking price. Based on what you've listed it should be somewhere in the $35K region.
Here's my ride and a description of modifications;

Recent engine overhaul & upgrade to 3.8L by Global Motorsports Group, http://www.gmgracing.com. the best engine shop in south County. The engine has under 3k miles since the rebuild. The car has 91k total chassis miles.
