Default Battery Maintainer

Does anyone know, or have experience with the battery maintainers that plug into the cigarette lighter? Are these types of maintainers safe for our model year (1990-94) cars?

+1 - I have one of the Porsche battery maintainers for each car. They work very well, especially when the cars are being stored during the winter salt months.

CTEK XS3600 is the one you need. I beleive this is what Porsche re-badge and sell through the dealer network.

I've been using the simple version (not CTEK) from Porsche for 8 years and it still works just fine!

Same here. Bought a Porsche maintainer and have never had a dead battery. Mind you the car sits in very very cold temps during the winter in an unheated garage.

When not being driven, the cars are on the "juice"!

+1 for the battery maintainers.

I bought one original a couple of months ago but never used ,mainly because the wall plug is far away from my parking space in the apt building where I live

Doing my little part for the environment: I plug in every time I get out in my garage...

...my little Potemkin-'hybrid' 964.

Thanks all for the input. I have heard the same as what SAL 965 stated, that the CTEK is the maker of the Porsche brand charger, and it sells for 1/2 the price.

I've got two of the Porsche brand battery maintainers, one for the 993 and one for my 360 Modena, and they work perfectly.

Porsche Maintainer is a rebadged CTEK 3300. CTEK is not only half price, but includes an Optima battery charging mode that the Porsche branded model is missing. CTEK’s are waterproof and can be used outside. I got mine for $60 shipped from this ebay seller ( no affiliation) Also got a cigarette adapter for it (not sure why I needed it)
