guys.. just thought I would update on the RSA rep tail.. sought a bunch of advice on some earlier threads and everyone was incredibly helpful. Chose the MA Shaw Fibreglass replica. Quality of the tail and service was nothing short of superb, with delivery from the US to Malaysia in less than 1 week. Fitting was straightforward, but I couldnt wait to get it on, so its on unpainted now and will be off to the shop for painting next week. Advice on the jumper for the warning light from Pelican parts threads was spot on and everything smooth... well almost, I decided to pull the airbox apart (for no particular reason other than it was "easier" to get to) and 2 hours and lots of cursing later it was back on. Also have mucked the alignment up on the engine cover latch, and now can shut the hood, but cant get it open past the first click... any ideas on this would be appreciated, though Im sure my repair shop can sort it out whilst it's in for painting... some photos attached.. just need it lowered now, and Im done tinkering for a while
thanks for the compliment... apparantly the original colour was Guards red like yours when it came from the factory but the previous owner decided to switch to slate grey.. one of the many great things about living in Malaysia is a full respray (fantastic quality) is around USD 1000.. guess I could change colours every year if I wanted to.. unfortunately cars and parts are subject to very high tax... at least speeding tickets are "negotiable"...
Ended up calling Michael Shaw and he recommended going for the fiberglass.. said there wasnt much difference in weight so I went for the that. overall very happy with it
With the CF one, I'd leave it as is whereas the FB ones would need paint. Match it up to a CF hood and it would make a good lookin' car.
I tried leaving my wing in CF, and even with a black car, it just didnt do anything for me...it looks so much better painted, even better than the real RSA tail since theres no rubber lip.
