I hate seeing 911's that have fallen by the wayside. I think the idea of restoring this car is wonderful and you sound like the sort of person who knows exactly what you are getting into and for the right reasons. If your heart says 'do it' then go for it.

Please, please post updates along the way (obviously with plenty of pics).

Oh...and can you get some pics of it under its tarps etc so we can see exactly where you are starting from?

This could turn out to be a fabulous thread!

I'll try for pics this week.
I am set on buying it, only waiting for the final data, i.e. price. I know up to where I will go, and the seller is sympathetic enough to know he won't sell it to anyone else (crazyenoughtoundertakethat godawfulmission).
I hope to take it as is and have it on the street for under 14K USD, including the obvious mechanical freshen-up. Cosmetics would follow, but I will drive it all along.
Color is likely velvet red metallic, I have not seen the tag yet.

Pictures!!
Well, it was raining hard and the owner wasn't there so I was not about to lift everything off. The dirt and grass that grew on the tarp was removed last saturday.
Now don't be jealous people.

there is a good chance the paint has been damaged by the tarp...it seems to me that this car is going to need thousands of dollars in brake/engine seal work because of how long it has sat unused..

i haven't followed the entire theread but i assume there are no other 964's in your country and you want this for the shell only?

That is the whole point. Use and restore. I have restored a few in my life, and this one is interesting because I can use it year-long while working on it. It all hinges on the price as-is, and with all the work factored in.

It is in fact the only 964 left in the whole country that is available for public purchase.

Thanks for the pics George! Are you awaiting the seller to tell you his price or have you made an offer already?

Your mech has already looked it over or did I read incorrectly?

Yes he has gone over it, and is now crunching numbers to determine a fair price.

I'm guessing a minimum top end rework on the engine as a start?

Why would it need a top end job?
