No offense to the 993 owners but how can you consider getting rid of your 964? If the 993 would be an addition, then more power to you. IMHO, the 964 is the best of breed of the 911's. Classic styling with modern bits underneath.

Jokes aside, if you drive the 993 and it feels like its the right car for you, then go for it. Personally, I like the 964s.

Good luck with the decision. I'm sure you will make the right choice.

Only 20k Us$ difference??? I thought you'd make more cash out of the deal than that . . . .

The 95's don't have the Varioram 3.6....so it's pretty much the same engine isn't it? 20K is a lot of money...what are the differences between the two cars (aside from mileage) that would make the differential worth it to you?

I'm a huge 964 fan and don't see the attraction of the 993? Well, ok I do, but... The 993 is a great car, but it's a different equation if you're already coming from a 964? Older car, sure. 996 or 997, sure. But 993?

Drive it and if you like it better, buy it.

My big question is... you're worked hard to sort through your car these past couple of years. If you sell it, that work is gone. A 993 might be an improvement for you, but you might have to start all over again with this next car? New learning curve, address the previous owner's deferred maintainence, new mods to get the car the way to want it? The $20k price difference you mentioned is just the start...

The main difference I see is that considering the mileage of my car I can expect a top end rebuild and new clutch coming some time in the future, I will surely spend around 15K or more here for that kind of work and in the 993 with only 40k miles that maintenance costs are far away

I agree completely with you in the fact that I will find deferred maintenance to do or other items to solve in the 993, that´s what makes me wary of changing my 964 now...is tempting but not the perfect trade

If it was a 993 C2 S that would be a different story...

"Step into the light... experience the power of the 996 3", the angel said seductively. Can angels speak seductively? This one can...

I'm not sure this is a safe assumption, Henry. You may want to do a search in the 993 Forum using the key words: Premature Valve Guide Wear

If you want the car, then by all means, get it! Life is too short. But I would not consider deferred maintenance a compelling reason to buy this or virtually any Porsche. Certainly, the likelihood of failure is less with well-cared for, newer examples but there is always that possibility.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

DUTIES / TAXES: (FOR ARGENTINES OR PERMANENT RESIDENTS ONLY)
Approximately 79% of car CIF value,. If the car is diesel the taxes are 100 % of CIF value.

USED CARS AND MOTORCYCLES
Importation of new cars is subject to Ministry of Commerce regulations and is limited to certain types of vehicles.

* Foreign Diplomats are able to import used cars.
* Returning Argentine Citizens may import used cars only (once for each members of the couple).
* Persons with permanent resident status may import used cars.

So you are only getting $5-8K for your car? 95 993's are less then $28K from what I have seen.
