Default Wet weather makes my clutch pedal smoother?

It's been raining so much in the North East, I have noticed a strange condition with my clutch pedal. When it is wet and rainy the clutch pedal is easier to push and feels smoother, but when it is dry everything feels a little stiffer and the pedal is kind of squeaky and rough.

Do I need to lubricate things in the pedal area or is something else possibly going on?

The clutch works fine otherwise.

It can't hurt to lubricate the pedal cluster but it makes me wonder why this would happen. Are you getting any water in the footwells?

I bet your clutch arm needle bearings are all rusted up, and the wet acts as a lube! Car has the original clutch?

Garrett - Good theory. I didn't like the needle bearings so I tossed them on both of my cars are replaced them with standard bushings.

Binding feels like it is happening at the pedal. I never noticed any water coming in until our last trip to VT in torrential rain my feet got wet.
PO said the PO replaced the clutch (in 2002 I think) no record of it though.
I will dig into the pedal cluster and report back. Going on Holiday Monday for most of the month so I might not get to it before we leave..

If you are getting water in the car, you may want to check your HVAC drain tubes. See https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ater-vent.html

I had a look at the pedal cluster. No signs of any moisture getting in there, but I sprayed some lubricant at the various pivot points and it is smoother now. So I'm not sure how wet weather was making things smoother, unless it's just the humidity? I did notice a tear in the rubber bellows on the clutch master, and I think lubing in there might have made the most difference.

How come it's always the little things that make these projects so difficult! The danged straps that keep the small carpet piece in place around the pedals was such a PIA to undo and then put back. It looks like a design from the 60s, I know my SC had the same stupid straps!

"and I think lubing in there might have made the most difference."
Be careful with the lube around rubber brake parts .
Not all lubes are nice to brake rubber parts .
