Default Roll Bar for a 964 C4 Cab? UK

My wife is a bit unhappy that there is no roll bar on my 1990 cabriolet. I wondered if anyone had found an aftermarket roll bar kit that when fitted looked OK. I know that there are a number of roll cages for track use but I am looking for something a bit more discreet but engineered to do the job should it ever be needed!

I see that DAS http://www.dassport.com/ make a sports roll bar for the 964/993 which fits the Cab & Coupe. Anyone got one or fitted one? Comments appreciated as always!!

I think that's been fit to the cab nicely, but you lose any rear seat functionality you might have had. They also fit the 993, from what I remember.

You could look for Autopower as well.

Chimera: I assume the top can go up and down with the bar in. Is that correct?

I think I read the cabs are good for 1 or 2 rolls by design

There's no problem with top clearance. Although the bar is removable, I leave it installed all the time.

I have a Kirk Racing roll bar, made in Alabama USA. Probably not a good solution for you in the UK. Although it was a fair amount cheaper than DAS, around $450 US + shipping. The nice thing about the design is that it attaches to all four seat belt points. There is a horizontal bar across the bottom that passes just above the tunnel with two drops to pick up the inside seat belt points. It attaches the same as DAS otherwise with the outside rear bars using the outside seat belt points, and the front bars going to the floor requiring drilling holes in the floor. It fits fine with the top up.

Have to say that a Targa looks a much nicer proposition than any of these additional roll bars

I have a 1993 convertible and I need to install a roll bar. I do not have rear seats, my car came iwth the optional rear luggage compartment. Will the Kirk Racing roll bar fit?
Thx

Paolo

PS: I just sent them an email asking the same question.....

Reply from Kirk, after I sent them pictures: the rear compartment will need to be remove to allow installation of the roll bar....
Still lookig for other alternatives but I think the only options are 1- remove the rear compartments or, b - modify the rear compartments (holes?) to make installation possible.

You could carry a lot of gloves in there.
