Default Rennlist membership

I just got a membership renewal email..... strangely worded and ends with the following line...

"If you do not extend your subscription, access will be removed."

A bit heavy really

I was always under the impression that paid membership benefits were (ahem) advanced search and some limited member only content?

I do enjoy rennlist, but with the current state of search and the changes in the last year am constantly looking around for a more accessible knowledge base (shame!)

Supporting John D is one thing, supporting Internet Brands is quite another... You're not the only one with mixed feelings about this...

For the most part membership gives you access to the classifieds, and the off-topic forum.

This is a great 964 forum as well: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forumdisplay.php?f=32

I have found that the membership is worth the capability of searching the database. Yes the current search function is painful, but you can massage it to work reasonably well.

The content here seems to be far more complete than over at Pelican, they are good, but it seems like a smaller slice of the 964 people in particular.

Things may change, but I'm probably going to continue here for the technical content. As well as some of the laughs!

I think that will be Monday only now, as I mostly shoot on the weekend.

Well, not sure, it's just that the final line of the renewal email could imply that to be the case!

Great responses all.. and a good reminder why rennlist is my first/last 'leisure browse' of each day.... do I need to be a member though?... time will tell.

I was growing a bit disenchanted with the new regime, but then I remembered that it's the members here that make the community worth my while. The knowledge, willingness to help and support make for a great forum.

I was unaware that search was limited to paying members. As bad as it now is, it is worth it, to me, to access the wealth of knowledge here.

Anyone know if there is an on-line document somewhere that explains how it's now supposed to work?

Don't tell me IB also owns Rennlist now. There's been quite a bit of fuss over on AudiWorld on the changes imposed.
