Tachometer Needed...Anyone have an extra?
Well I have finally gotten around to pulling my non working tach (requires removing the steering wheel and column cover)
Took it up to Hollywood Speedometer and it is declared dead. Main circuit board is history. No idea why it just quit one day during a drive. Car runs fine.
Mine has the trip computer in it, but I noticed the connector for the non trip computer tach is in the car. Does this mean I could plug in a non trip computer tach and it will work?
Either way I need a new tach. Repairing mine would cost a small fortune !
964 or 993 will work.

Yes, you can use a non-OBC tachometer and it will work. You won't have to remove the steering wheel either, since it's shallower. You can get a used one for around $200. The OBC tachometers are significantly more expensive.

Thanks for the info...
The dealer wants $1539.00 for a new one.
The repair runs a bit over $600.00
Some on ebay for around $5-600
Seems the regular one is much cheaper. Kind of sucks loosing the OBC though.

Pete, I have an OBC tacho that I bought for my car, without checking the serial nos. so it's in miles and gallons where I need Kms and litres. You can have it for $200. I last had it in the car about 8 months ago and it tested out fine but since then it's sat in a box in the garage. Only downside is I've just started my two week work rotation so I won't be able to get my hands on it for posting until the end of the month. If you can wait that long it's yours.
Hope this helps,
Neil

I have a tach with the OBC where the display screen is "bleeding" some of the numbers together. Perhaps you can take the circuit board from mine and install it in yours. Everything works fine, just the display is not perfect. $100
