Default ppi needed in middlesex area ?

Hi all,i'm off to view a 964 on sunday, and all being well would like to organise an inspection shortly after. Can anyone recommend a local specialist who would do this, and give me a rough idea of the cost of this service ? Thanks Paul

I don't know about cost (probably just easier to call a few places and ask) - but if I needed a PPI, I think I'd use (in this order) :

JZ Machtech (near Watford)
Northway (Reading)
GT-One (Chertsey)

Have heard good things about Chelsea Carrera too but not used them myself.

Thanks Dave, what does it consist of ?
Do i have to get the owner to take the car to jzm ect.. or do they send an engineer out ?
Sorry for the daft questions,i've never had one before and this is my first dip into the 964 ownership

To be honest, I've not had one myself. But I would expect them to go through the car - much as they would for a service (but maybe a bit more) and list any obvious problems. I don't know how common leakage / compression tests are here - I know they do them in the states - but it's worth asking if they include that.

And no - there is no way the mechanic will go to the car. The current owner will have to drop the car there.

There's a good PPI checklist on the 964 DIY section.

About £150 is average from a specialist , but more if you require a compression/
leakdown. I would not ask for this every time, but if it passes a basic PPI first you
may want the extra peace of mind it can give. Not all shops can offer this service
and perform it properly..

As well as the places that Dave has suggested - which will, indeed, expect someone to take the car to them - there are a few more possibilities here who will send and expert to the car. It will cost a little more but you'll often find sellers reluctant to travel anywhere for a PPI. With the visiting expert you can avoid the issue. It does have it's limitations of course with no obvious access to a lift as an obvious one.

Regards

Dave
