all,
how does one remove the door mounted interior light switch without destroying it?...i haven't messed with it yet.
i'm familiar with the 356 style which has a hex nut

The manual describes the process - although not terribly helpfully. I tried sticking the screwdriver in the long end, and cracked part of the plastic (oops). I think best to lever out from the sides (very carefully) - ie, not what I did. Would defer to the comments of those who have successfully removed without breaking it first...

Its been a while since I did it on my '90 C-4. The process was simple. The trick is realizing that the aluminum disk is threaded like a nut.
Step 1 - Remove the rubber boot/cover
Step 2 - With some large adjustable pliers, twist off the aluminum disk
Step 3 - Slide the switch out
Installation is the reverse.
