Here are some photos of a 1992 Cs manual coupe with a factory Cobalt/Navy two tone interior, a little hard to tell but that is an almost purple leather interior with navy accents.
So cool, I just bought it!

Hey Pesty that is a nice set of rims, what do we call those?

The color is actually Marine blue not navy. As you can see by the charts (not too clear) Both the color combos shown above are standard. It is either the light gray with cobalt, all marine blue, or all cobalt blue.

Hey Anthony, sounds like you are working with a shop, but if you are not happy, I have a shop that will do it right for you. Send me a PM if interested.

Thanks Anthony, good to know the correct name of the color. I look forward to having you solve the Cobalt paint match dilema as I am sure I will need some help. I just bought this car from NJ and have not even seen it in person; it is a high mileage car in excellent condition and sailed through a PPI, the former owner is a pleasure to deal with and long time P car guy.

There is a crack in the tail spoiler that may need attention but I am going to wait to hear from you that the paint can be sprayed to match on a local spot of the car satisfacorily.

Thanks

They are RH replicas of GT3 Mk1 alloys (sport design I think they were called.)

I'll see if I can dig out a link.

I would love to say the jet is my weekend toy

Having samples sprayed today. The problem is the shop is in North Jersey. Although I have the formula if it works.

best luck with it. You have to love cobalt.

Default Any luck with the paint match?

Cobalt
I was hoping to hear you sailed through the paint match issue so you could give us the secret and I could get one of those really cool little rear window spoilers that Pesty has.

Pesty, where did you get that little spoiler?

Too much going on this weekend. I am picking up the samples today. Sounds like we should have a match although the color comes up multiple ways from the supplier.

I happen to have a paint formula from Glasurit someone from RL sent me which is 37U. It is different than the code 37U Glasurit currently has in its system and although is comprised of the same components, quantities vary slightly. It would appear the formula I had is darker with more pink in it which sounds correct for my car.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and will let you know soon.

As far as the spoiler that is the 993 third brake light that replaced the horrible brake light they used on the 964.

Default PAINT UPDATE!!!!

So far not so good.

2 samples shot one using the formula I got from a RL that says it was the correct color the other from Glasurit both are listed as 37U. One was too dark the other too light neither have enough violet and other colors in it to change in the light the way my car does. According to them 2 cars from the factory can vary a number of shades from car to car.

Currently Polar silver is one of the bigger problem colors to match and I have heard this from a number of shops. Apparently my cobalt is even more difficult. So now we have to try to fine tune the paint to see what can be done. The other issue might be that when they painted my car it is quite different from other cobalt blue cars. The amount of violet and other colors that cause the drastic color shift might be the result of who mixed it the day it was painted. This may result in an easier match for some but not so easy for me so far. This might be why my car looks different than other cobalt blue cars I have parked next to and why my car looks nothing like the new cobalt blue used today.

Will keep you posted.

Default Thanks for the update

I hope you get yourself sorted on the paint match, good explanation on the difficulty, I had a 84 Carerra in Prussian Blue that was a devil to match for the same reasons.

Let me know, the car gets off the truck from NJ next week and I know I am going to want to paint a few things to spruce it up, especially that nifty little spoiler Pesty has.

Thanks for sharing.
