Default LA964RS Jr. - continued:

964 **** follows. Shameless self promotion and a hubris moment, admittedly.

Finally got the 4 pot rears on and completed. FabSpeed pre-muffler done and consequently strait thru SS exhaust from heads to atmosphere - driving is certainly an audio event. Bilstein PSS's and ERP camber mounts awaiting install/set-up.

Jeez, I'm almost out of project targets. And don't slag the flags 'eh, after all they are retro.

BTW, RennSpeed "3.8 RSR 1 piece spoiler" is a complete PoS. No fecking way can it be made to fit - what a waste of 2 bills.

Also fitted slotted rotors from brakeperformance.com. True side-to-side directionally correct and a great value. Quality seems dead on for $300 for the 4.

Cheers.

Come on....dump a 993TT lump w/+500 HP & a 6-speed w/LSD into the mix and make them fraternal twins....

Don't know what the rsr spoiler looks like, my angle was to hang as little on the car as I could...keeps it clean looking.. Ruf's front rubber air dam is a nice slick piece and certainly not overpowering. I like the natural shape of the 64...if I could I would not have run a rear wing on it...just kept it O'Narural.....

In red it looks great....

CAr looks great! 2 things...How did you do the tail light blank plate and are those the same seats in both cars? I really like the plaid look!

Is the ducktail from Rennspeed or Getty (just checked your threads and see it's from Getty)? I guess you did lots of research before buying. It seems the Rennspeed lid isn't 964 specific, but the Getty lid is - but also costs more so I guess is better quality? And was it fairly straightforward to fit? I assume it comes with captive nuts ready for the hinges to bolt to, and do you need to use hinge adaptors? Does it come with the grill or is that just a stock impact-bumper black grill?

So many questions! I've been looking for a white 964 engine lid as a straight swap for mine with Butzi's signature on it (want to keep it safe on the office wall). I haven't had any luck finding one and I'm now thinking this ducktail could be just what I need - and would fit very nicely with the RS.

Sweet very sweet. Love it. The black headlight trim rings do make it look like mascara though!

Some aero mirrors to finish it off!

Nice looking car nonetheless...great stuff.

Rich964rs: The tail is from Getty, and thanx to Robert (LA964RS) for his counsel in support of Getty. To gain correct fit I had to make the holes in the OE hinges eccentric. Reason being that the Getty piece offers no adjustment range for the wellnuts that are hardmounted into their piece. My best pal who does the paintwork (he owns an auto resto shop) was quite impressed with Getty's quality and readiness to prep. It did take more that a few tries with shims and such to get alignment and "height" to be good, but that was expected. No adapter plates are necessary.

What was not expected was the RennSpeed 3.8 RSR front spoiler "fit", which is to say it was not a fit at all. I wish these miserable ******** were within choking distance, as their piece that I referenced above is very clearly not mountable in any way - it's garbage. I wanted an understated piece with which to balance the look of the tail, so the search continues.

If anyone has personal knowledge of a well made and well fitting option for lower front, I'm all ears. In that regard, I don't think I would do the Techart 3 pc. style but may potentially go back to the Ruf lip that I once had on the car but subsequently sold to someone here. I think that the Ruf lip would in fact be a good "balancing look" as Robert states above. I wish now that I'd never sold it.

Gorgeous tail!!

I'm really convinced it will be my next aesthetic upgrade...

Just two questions Mark, how much downforce make that ducktail spoiler? and have you experienced any kind of overheating? in other words, is it the original rear spoiler as good as they claim?

Thanks, regards,

David

I have this splitter from Cargraphic, it's made of CF and it was a good fit but very tight. The upper edge sits in the little gap between the bumper and the under covers. From the underside you drill some holes and then screw it into the covers.
