Everbody seams to aim for as wide as possible. Now I thnking on going the other way. Ayone have experince how thin You can go on org. 17" CUP:s or 18" 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 I think factory is 205/05 front and 255/45 back org... on the 18" i'm not sure. Reason, I want to have rims with the look "as little rubber as possible"

Hey just kidding!
I don't know what the minimum is for your 18s. You can of course 'stretch' a narrower tyre over a rim. The VW boys seem to like doing that. I'd be concerned about ripping the tyre off under heavy cornering though. That could spoil your afternoon.

Most tyre brands has a template on their website showing the min and max rim the recommend for each size. That could maybe be a start for the info you need.

I use either 8&9 x 17's with 235/275 or 8 & 9.5 X 18 with 225/265 for the track. Be careful with 18's and low profile tires on the street. You will find you are repairing your wheels more than you care to. For the street I find 17's give a better ride and do a fine job. I run 7&9x17 cup I's with 225/255 for the street
