I think a video might be in order .

You say the tach is broken and can not be fixed ?
There are shops that do repairs on broken gauges .
And then I see used tachs for sale on ebay and at the porsche junk yards .

Bill, I just got the car a month ago. Hence I termed "newbie" pics in my title.
Bought the car from someone I know really well, mileage is at 6603km but he never took care of the car so sold it to me for really cheap.

Hence I'm a very new owner of this 964. I took it over and this is the current problem I'm facing. Should've mentioned that earlier sorry. I drove the car once, 5 years ago when it was in perfect condition, fell in love and decided I really wanted one. Finally had the money to pull the trigger and here I am now. Pretty much sums up the story.

And sorry abt calling it a backfire, just quoting the technicians, tbh they might be more clueless than I am in a way.

Indycam - I'll try to see how the quality turns out, video wise. If it's feasible, i'll put it up somewhere.

None of the sort. Just the inconsistent engine revs when stationary.

6,603km? Did I read correctly or should there be another number in there? 66,030km? Is it a Porsche dealership? I presumed it was but...

Don't worry too much and ruin your weekend, the quotes you are getting are to completely replace parts that can be easily fixed.

I also would recommend finding a local indy shop where the mechs know these cars and work on them regularly. New mechanics at the dealership probably have not been there 20 years. Also, can you update your profile to let us know where you are and we can proffer some recommendations

yea 6603 km no mistake.

Someone had a 964 here at 8000+km exactly the same as mine but turbo. Sold it for $40 000 around US$25k. Crazy..........

Yea it's a Porsche dealership.

I am kinda worried as I do want to get the road on the damn road ASAP! + I'll update my status.

Brunei Darussalam is the name of the place, South East Asia, oil export country.

Indycam, if that is necessary, I think it'll be worth it, but you must bring parts with you! Haha.

Brunie? Hmmm...maybe we can't offer the list of recommended indy's I thought we would be able to!

The 8,000km car was not a turbo (presume you mean the red tiptronic cab).

I sincerely hope you get this sorted asap, its sad that your 964 experience is marred by these teething problems.

I have all the parts you need , I am free all next week .

If this was my car I think I would start with a new set of spark plugs .
If this car has the original spark plugs then I would replace them .

New set of Bosch sparks are in already. I asked for the change a week ago.

I do really wanna get the car sorted out, as I've read here besides leakage the car if cared for properly runs smoothly.
