Default purchasing 1990 C2

all,

hello and i guess at this point i am a defector from the 993 group :-)...sold my 1995 993 2 weeks ago and i am searching for a silver/black C4S...decided to buy a 964 to use as a driver until i find a nice C4S.

i must admit, after test driving a few 964's, i was amazed at how much of a drivers car they are...they have a more primitive feel with better heating and defrost functions than the earlier 911's....i've had a hard time locating a silver/black example but one fell in my lap last week thru an ad in the cities local newspaper.

it's a silver/black 1990 C2 and will be flying down to california to pick it up on monday afternoon...a good porsche friend of mine who lives near the car has given it a good going over and as long as compression check looks good i'm buying.

104K miles with new clutch/brakes/starter/alternator/tires and just tuned and serviced....excellent paint and interior....car has been garaged.

has a couple of minor oil leaks but more importantly, it has 2 rust spots at the front windshield seal...one near the drivers mirror and another about 7" away from that toward the wipers.

it has a newer windshield so i suppose these areas were nicked when the windshield was replaced?...since it is important to me that these areas are addressed, has anyone here recently had this repair done??

thanks in advance

william

If there is rust there, look elsewhere during the PPI. I was told to be wary of rust at the windshield cowl, as it may be indicative of more. I actually turned down a car with this issue, and a few other issues to boot.

I had a small spot repaired a few years ago by a local guy.

I printed out the Porsche Workshop sheets for him and he did a stellar windshield-out repair job.

FWIW, I have read it is not something to ignore.

It was CDN$800 but that also included spraying some brake ducts and headlight trim rings, and a few rock-chip touch ups.
