Default Help with Springs, Struts, and Shock Dilemma

I need a lesson on Porsche springs and struts/shocks. I have a 90 Carrera 4 that I don't drive much. I have owned this vehicle for the last 5 years and have learned and performed some minor repairs with the help of Adrain's Porsche 964 Book. But now I have a dilemma that I am hoping you guys can help.

The car has Eibach (do not know type) springs but I do not yet know if it has original standard shocks/springs (I assume boge struts/shocks). When the Eibach springs were installed, the vehicle was lowered. When I hit a bump or dreaded pot hole, the front end lifts and I feel every bump. Seems that the front struts are gone. I consider the ride to be stiff. I am looking for a more comfortable ride since I do not go to the track. I figure the only way to get back to a comfortable ride would be to go back to stock springs and struts/shock. Do you guys agree? Also, should spring rates be coordinated with shocks/struts?

I have read and searched this issue on the forum and this is what I come up with. I have contacted two Porsche mechanics and they both say original springs but one says use bilstein HDs while the other says go with what you have (which I do not know yet).

Thanks,
Carmelo

I found the stock setup to be the most comfortable but I preferred the look and handling of my H&R/Bilstein combo.

Kahdmus,

Thanks for your reply. Were the orginals springs and struts/shocks of the Boge brand? I would assume this based upon the 964 parts numbers given shown on Pelican Parts.

Thanks,
Carmelo

Gosh, I don't remember Carmelo. I am sure they are here in a box somewhere. I expect someone can chime in and tell you though.

stock struts are Boge. they are black painted bodies. You can easily look under the car or inside a wheel well to take a look.
I have a set of stock springs if you are inclined to change them back. But you will be raising the car back to stock height.

I'd put a new set of shocks/struts in but leave the height. ride is subjective, of course but don't find the combination jaw breaking.

Hawk911,

You mean $679.00 for all four (4), correct?

Thanks,

Carmelo

Colin 90 C2,

I would be interested in your springs. I just have not convinced myself to keep the low unconfortable ride. Unless, I can be convinced that the new bilsteins shock would make it more confortable. Would the bilsteins be the standard ones or the HDs?

Thanks,
Carmelo

Carmelo, I have a set of of Porsche OEM M030 shocks and H&R Red springs that I recently took off my RS America that you can have for a fraction of what new suspension will cost you. Please let me know if you're interested.

well, on the envoy it was $199. I was not quoting Porsche parts. I bought my shox 2 yrs ago on the Porsche.
