Default what it this connector for?

I started to remove my A/C today and noticed that one cable on this connector was broken. It's mounted on the rear side of the fire wall. What is the connector for?

But leave no path unexplored!

OK, thanks. Must this connector still be in place in order to run the fans without the A/C?

I will leave the evaprator in there, but I removed the firewall so I could reach the bolts holding the final pipes.
