Default Engine Capsule Insulation

In the preparation for a valve adjustment, I've taken off the engine capsule pieces and have found that the insulation is in bad shape. Interested to know what others have done -- is there a suitable replacement for this task without the need for replacing the engine capsule pieces -- they're pricey?

I removed all that **** and just use the panels without the foam. Nice and clean.

Mine looked the same (maybe a little worse).
I picked off any detached tatters, left the rest as-is, and reinstalled.
Don't sweat it. All, except the concourse queens, look the same or worse.

I left all those panels off including the controversial under tray. My car never sees weather so no need for all that junk in the trunk...

Leaving off the silvery-foiled parts means slow broiling your plug wires, clips.

Resurrecting this thread, I am finishing my valve adjustment and just cleaned my engine capsule pieces. The foam insulation on the inside of the engine capsule pieces was in tatters. I scrapped it all off and clean both bits in my parts washer. I though Porsche would sell the foam bits separately but they do not. Oh well, just like others I will now be insulation free on the inside of my engine capsule. Wonder what it is for? To dampen noise?

Most likely. That and to help prevent heat soaking the rear deck and speakers over time. I doubt they really get that hot anyway.

I was told that stuff is only to reduce noise. I am in the same boat, scraped mine off and will use the plastic panel with the heat shield in tact and the sound foam gone... And no under tray, since running the car with the under tray just cost me a hugely expensive rebuild...way too hot in there...
