Default Rennline Carrier Reinforcement

I'm looking to reinforce my engine carrier for DEing. Anyone using the Rennline reinforcement kit ? Your thoughts? It appears to be well thought out and makes the entire carrier rigid. http://www.rennline.com/newssection.asp?dept=808

Thanks,
Dan

it does look good, and for the price a bargain, i did mine my own way and it was a load of hassle, wish i was in the US and had one to hand at the time!

demonfish, it does appear to take the hassle as you mentioned of fabbing your own. I wonder because it does make it rigid if you have trouble aligning the motor mount bolts?

you are only reinforcing and already rigid part, so it will make no different to aligning the bolts.

Default It's In! It's Working!

I've bought the Rennline product, recently had it installed, and have already used it for a DE event. There was no reported issue with aligning the bolts for installation but then again the whole engine/transmission package was out of the car at the time. With this motor carrier stiffener, I find I can shift gears (particularly the normally troublesome 2/3 shift) virtually anywhere on the track. I already have the Euro RS transmission mount installed as well, plus the Euro RS motor mounts. There is no evidence of increased engine noise coming back thru the chassis, by the way. There does seem to be a subtle improvement in stability at the rear but there are so many new changes that have been recently made that it's impossible to attribute all the benefits to the strengthened motor carrier. Clearly nothing other than my pocket book has been harmed by this installation, however.

demonfish and Blu RS appreciate the input. Just wanted to hear some opinions before moving forward with it. In addition to the reinforced carrier I plan on some Wevo engine mounts.

The Wevo's seem like a really nice addition and should really tighten up the engine to chassis. They made a hugh improvement to my SC and I too didn't notice any additional vibrations. demonfish it appears you track your car quite a bit?

Your right I think the RSR transmission mounts would complete the package.

Thanks

not so much right now due to the leak i need to sort, but yes, everything i do to it or buy for it is bought with the track in mind... they are remarkable cars if you chuck money in the right places.

Funny the 964 3.8 RSR parts book shows the 993 street model's mount as used for the RSR, this before the 993 was introduced.

Part number 993.115.021.90, I wonder what the difference is between this and the 964 part number 964.115.021.90 is.

Received my engine carrier back from Rennline. Hugh kudos to both Tom Rittenburg and Paul Jacques of Rennline for their excellent customer support and quick turn around. Very happy with the workmanship. It's definitely a very substantial piece.
