Question Dual Distributor - One vent or two?

We just had the distributor out and replaced the belt. We have the vent kit installed on the primary distributor, but when it was out we noticed that there is a punch in the secondary distributor which would allow us to vent the secondary - would be interested in opinions. Has anyone installed a vent to the secondary distributor?

Default Double Vented

The two distributors are connected via the belt channel anyway.

One fitting is for the vent hose from the fan shroud. The other is supposed to be outlet that connects to the LR tail light housing.

Remember, air won't go in the distributor housing if it cannot get out,...

I've often thought that was the way it should be, but mine, and every one I've ever seen has one hose from the tube to the tail light, and one to the distributor.

Do the vent kits come with two distributor plugs?

Can the distributor hole plug be purchased separately?

I was wondering this my self, but never asked.

Did the vent kit come after the 964 was out of production?

Why do the vent kits only come with one adapter if two are required?

I have mostly seen just the one vent hooked up.

Just one adapter and one hose is the normal vent .
The air gets in via the loose fit between the cap and the body of the distributor .
The down side is that dust / dirt is sucked into the distributor as the air is .
If you want to up the airflow into and out of the distributor body ,
uncork the 2nd bunged up hole and make it into a filtered air in .

So, the vent kit tube is a vacuum hose? Huh. I had assumed it was a pressure hose blowing air into the distributor and tail lights. Isn't the downtube under pressure?

With the hose connected to the fan shroud/heat tube there would be air blowing into the distributor, yes?

Interesting. Mine is plumbed like the pic above, one hose from the fan shroud to a T and then two tubes into the distributor.
Having one hose as in and the other as out makes more sense for sure.

OT kinda: Why is there a hose to the tail lights? To avoid moisture build up?

yup -- these are positive pressure lines.
(Not much, mind you. Prove it to yourself next time you remove the snorkel/vent motor assy. Start the engine and put your hand over the snorkel-lip hole. Unlike taxes, it only blows, and doesn't suck.)

Don't know the satisfaction of two lines.
My stock '93 is just one ol' floppy dangler.
