Got to love the easy fixes. I pulled my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong with mine until I borrowed the loaner scan tool that was floating around a while back. Mines a 90 and doesn't have a check engine light so all I could tell was that is was low on power without the scan tool.

Glad it was a simple fix.

After I had dropped my engine and replaced the clutch, I got the same error code. Removing and reconnecting the connector, cleared the fault.
Bump for an old thread, but for me a really useful one. I had the same issue last week: after my mechanic replaced the clutch for me, as I was leaving his garage the CEL came on. His Durametric showed it was a knock sensor. So with the aid of this thread and the one you linked, I found both knock sensors, cleaned the green plugs (because those are easily accessible), and the CEL disappeared. I was fortunate and didn't have to pull the alternator/fan.

It took a little effort to unplug the left knock sensor, as it's wedged under the heater blower and between the engine & fuse box, but I used a spare shoelace to pull off the retention wire and fished it back out from the engine tin with an extendable magnet.

Thanks.
