Default Cup1 7.5 x 17

I know there is a 17 x 7.5 Cup 1 wheel from the 928 GTS and the 968 with a offset of ET65, But I have a few times seen a listing of a 17 x 7.5 Cup1 wheel with a offset of ET55. Is that correct? I never seen one for sale yet should I keep up hope or is it a Magnesium version from the Cup Cars?

Cup cars were 8s and 9.5s. Not sure about a Factory 7.5 for a 964, although I see them in aftermarket wheels.

I recently sold a pair of 7.5 cup I's that had a 65mm offset. They were a 965 part # and were aluminum.

The only 7.5 inch factory cup 1 is an ET65 if it is an ET55 it is aftermarket.

The 7.5 Et 65's for the GTS use the PDK tire pressure monitoring system and have 2 holes in them for the sensors. These are rare and expensive wheels.

I am curious to know if these wheels actually exist. None of the primary sites list them although the PET does show they exist on M030 968's. I know of 2 M030 968's and one does not have the original wheels and the other is running 7's & 9's from the factory.

The part number for the 968 wheel is different both using 965 #'s yet no 7.5" wheel was used on a 965. They also have a 9.5 listed for the 968 M030 as a 965 #. This same wheel is listed as being used on the turbo and turbo look along with the standard 9". I have never seen or heard of a turbo with 7.5 and 9.5" cup I wheels so I am assuming there is something strange with the PET which can happen. I also have a TSB which lists all the wheel sizes, I will double check but I don't recall this wheel being mentioned.

Assuming the wheel does exist as a factory wheel it would be very rare and probably desirable. If you purchase them I would be curious how the part number compares to the PET and what are the weights. I am assuming since the 7" is already pretty heavy this would be even more so approaching the weight of the 8" x 18" three piece speedline.

PS if you don't want them pass along the info I might be interested.

can you check the P/N is it 965.362.124.05 or 965.362.164.05.

I will check the TSB tonight. I have never seen a set for sale so I am curious to see a pic of one.

I have actually had my hands on a factory 7.5 x 17 et 65.. they do exist and are almost always come from a 968 since the 928 were made in such small numbers for that years

why not just go with the 8" wheel from the rear of your car on the front.

They fit and are easy to come by.
use an aftermarket 9" or if you can find them the 9.5" 68mm offset rear

I have no records anywhere on the 965.362.126.00 as an 8" front available or used there is a 965.362.126.01 which is an 8" ET 52 rear wheel used as an option M403 for the C2/4 from 91 up and as standard equipment on the RSA.

As far as the 965.362.164.05 it is listed as the standard front up to the first 12 or so 94 MY wheel used on the GTS. It is the same wheel that I have on my 93 GTS and it has 2 holes in it from the factory and needs 2 pressure sensor monitors per wheel p/n 928.361.022.00. I don't see any info showing you need to drill the holes so I could only presume they come with them so if this is also listed on the 968 as an optional wheel something is unclear. How do they differentiate the difference between a 928 and 968 wheel if both use the same p/n and one comes with holes and one does not? I believe if you order this wheel from the factory it will come with holes in it for the monitors as it would be very difficult to machine the hole and flat sections for the pressure sensor and mine is clearly done prior to finishing.

The same issue goes with the 7.5 and 9.5's mentioned for the 91-92 turbo and turbo look cars. There is no mention of option code for these and I have never seen or heard of a turbo or turbo look coming with them so I still think something is being overlooked. There would be some mention of it in any of the standard places but even the factory TSB doesn't reference these wheels. The turbo is only shown as using the 7 & 9's and the optional cup I's are listed as only 7 & 8". So IMO the verdict is still out on what the truth is behind these wheels.

Any additional info you guys can provide would be helpful. I am curious to know the truth behind the application of these wheels. Also if anyone has a set they want to sell at a reasonable price let me know.

BTW my 7.5 x 17 cup I on my GTS comes with an additional brass plate on the inside (928.701.287.10) providing info regarding the monitors and warnings not to over inflate above 88psi when mounting tires. I can only assume the ones we see here do not have this?
