I don't know how many of you change chips very often - but I got tired of having to split the ECU case - So I came up with a ribbon cable extension and a quick change adapter for my chip - adapter has a booster - works great - I can change a chip in under 2 minutes now -
If interested let me know -
I will try to get some pictures this evening - but I have to pull and split the ECU again - so - maybe !!!
The ribbon cable has a plug that fits into the chip location on the board at one end , then it has a chip housing at the other end. I got another trick that had a small signal booster to help the remote chip . I also added a quick chip changer feature so I can flip a lever and pop a chip in or out. The quick changer is like a small set of clam doors that open and clsoe on the legs of the chip. I mount the small board for all this in the black plastic box which I Velcro'd to the seat mount. Had to grind the inside of the box out to make room for the circuit board - but all fitted inside - should probably use a larger box.
Mmmmh, I need some more to understand....how does the ribbon cable clip into the chip location? Both sides? Did you use a special connector? Instead of splitting the ECU again, you could take a picture of the connector... if you have a spare one... also, could you take a picture inside the little black box? I' m too curious...
my uncle has built a switchable eprom, from the dashboard switch he can select between 4 different maps. currently working on a display to confirm selected map, and maybe to display engine parameters...
