yep ridiculous !! anyone in the rest of the world can drive these cars but not here because the airbag is not there... no door beams ... etc...

The funny thing is why the "real" RS didn't come to the USA in the first place.
In 1992 I personally asked Fred Schwab, who was CEO of PCNA at the time, why we didn't get a car like the European RS and he said "I didn't think I could sell enough of a car like that here to make it worth while", so we got the RSA instead...
It had nothing to do with legalization issues.

Ironic that as we speak about importing an RS into US from Europe or converting a US-based RS America, a non-sunroof RS America with a nod towards to Carrera RS spec has just landed in Ireland from California.
