Default RS Door cards and Speaker crossover placement

I've taken delivery of my RS door kits. I imagine I could have achieved the same weight lose by taking my shoes off before I drive....anyhoo. They look the nuts!!

I want to keep the split speakers in the door but from scrutiny of the many excellent threads about door furniture removal on this wealth of knowledge that is RL I cant find a solution for the placement of the speaker crossover box other than inside the door cavity, not an altogether dry place!

I guess I will have to waterproof them and velcro them in place without fouling the window motion?

Any clues from those DIY souls who have trodden this path before me?

Couple of choices..

You can either secure under the dash and run two sets of cables through to the door or secure inside the door itself ( I used silicone and held in place for 24 hrs). You could get moisture issues that way, whether you could seal the xover I'm not sure, I just stuck mine on the door. Place I put mine was just above the woofer speaker and towards the hinge of the door.

Lots of room in the trunk and even better if you plan to run an external amp. But i guess not if you want to save weight. Either way the passive crossovers can still be put up front.

I just had my RS panels installed today and I was facing the same issue. The shop insatlled my cross overs under the dash board. It worked out very well...Good luck!

All good advice chaps! I plan to photograph the whole procedure and add it to the DIY for future expeditions.

Anyone know the exact weight savings going from stock to the RS door panels from appbiz? Their new ones look great how they did the speaker grills!

I'll do a before-and-after weight in to go with the install post. I'm not expecting more than a couple a K at the most (without ditching the speakers).

appbiz told me the door pockets alone were worth about 6 pounds. Would love to know exact numbers!

Yep, the pair (in their delivery bag which doubles as new moisture membranes if you dont want to spring for precut ones), and the box with all grommets, handles and pulls. So it's maybe 100-200gms less than 3.28

Great! So my guess is maybe a total drop of 10 pounds or so.
