Default 10mpg??

Sure I drive with a lead foot, but I think this bad of mileage is telling me that something is wrong! I noticed some light wafting smoke (black?) at idle the other day and a friend who was driving behind me said that it puffs out the exhaust when I go WOT. I'm guessing black/rich also.

Any ideas on the culprit? o2 sensor? I think it's original (almost 60k miles). Any diagnostics that I can perform?

Thanks (for all the help lately!)
nick

Will do. It's going to the specialist for an alignment on Wednesday and I'll have them check while it's there.

Thanks,

Sounds like bad injector. Have it looked at because a solid stream of gas going into your cylinder is bad for cylinder wall lubrication.

-nick,

When I drove my car back from the west coast (1-1/2 years ago), after a COMPLETE rebuild, I enjoyed approx. 25mpg. This is with a newly built 3.6, balanced and blueprinted, with mild cams and revised software (GIAC). I ran 80-100mph through the Badlands, and never treated things as "fragile". Seems as though you may have an isssue needing attention. Please PM me if you would like any links to shops, etc.

Hell, I get 10 MPG on the track. 19-22 on the street. I'd have it checked out, it may even be a leak, as you certainly can't be burning that much fuel without the engine running very poorly.
