Dash Board Hump
I have a hump on my dashboard on the forward edge where the dashboard meets the defroster grill. The hump is about 6 inches long and rises about a 1/4 inch above the defroster grill. The dashboard is normally about an 1/8 below the grill everywhere else.
I removed the dashboard last night and was dissappionted to see that is is a solid piece of molded plastic. Looks like a combination of heat and possibly poor molding allowed the plastic to become deformed over the years.
Has anyone delt with this? Any tricks that have worked? I could try a heat gun and series of clamps to try to get it back but that is a guess.
Any past experience or fixes?
Chris

Do a search, common issue with our cars
, mine has the same problem.
I had a link with some suggestions on how to get it to come down a bit, but I can't remember if there was a fix other than a new dash.

Hi Chris,
It's an ill that our 964 flesh is heir to ...
I never came across a repair for a non-leather dash other than replacement. The replacement isn't technically challenging but that dash top runs a few hundreds of dollars from the parts recyclers. Leather dash covers have had the underlying material "shaved" and the leather re-glued with varying satisfaction levels.
Avoidance requires shielding the dash from heat and sun. There apparently was a factory fix (see TSB reference in thread) applied later in the product run that allowed the narrow vent panel to sit proud of the dash and exert some hold-down. However, once you warp you're warped (or humped) (or bumped).

Thanks guys.
I did a search on dash board and did not get a single hit.
Everything described in the 2002 posts is a direct hit on my problem. Guess I will live with it.
At least I get a chance to clean out all the old bugs behind the dash before reinstalling.
