Default Leak Fuel tank at sender unit

Hi, i am not sure how to upload photos but i will try to describe. I have a fuel leak on my 1991 964 C2 RHD, the leak appears to sneak under a previous patch repair below the white plastic sender unit head. it then pour right down the front of the tank through the floor onto the street below. My local garage repatched this but are now talking about replacing the whole fuel tank. I have spoken to another few specialist who are astonished that the tank is leaking at all. Could it just be a badly fitted sender unit or corroded seal?

have photos i could email.

thanks

There is a simple rubber o-ring that seals the sending unit to the tank. The sending unit can be removed easily with a large wrench or adjustable pliers.

new fuel tank advised by garage as it looks like a terrible repair or botched job when previous owner had installed the fuel sender.

second hand tank and sender unit ordered and hopefully get it fitted next week.
