Default Help! Window won't go up

Warm day and dropped both windows. When I got home, the passenger side wouldn't raise! I switched the drivers side switch over to try and raise it figuring the switch was buggered and it still won't go up!!!

Any ideas what could be stopping it? I think its electrical.

Cheers

Mark

Mark,

Mine did that last year. It ended up being the motor. I confirmed it by measuring the resistance across the power connector to the motor showing it was open. I was able to measure it without removing it from the car. I did have to remove the door panel to get to the power cable. I was also able to change the window motor without removing the whole motor/drive assembly. The motor is held in place by two or three torx screws you can get to through the large speaker hole. Hope it's something much simpler. I'm sure others will post other possibilities. Good luck!

So the drivers side passenger window switch needs to be good as well?

I love this board. Its fixed. I switched them around and got the window up! Seems I have a bad drivers side door switch, this is what caused this. Thanks

Question

Indy:
"It takes two good switches to raise the pass side window."
...

South:
"I switched them around and got the window up!"

This thread hurts my mind a little...

Drivers side has two switches, one good one, one bad one. The passenger side door switch was what I thought was bad. So, I took the drivers side window switch and replaced the passenger side switch on the drivers door and it worked :-) See, clear as erh.. mud

Two 964 window switches failed on the same day in the same state! Heck, this is as spooky as Jefferson and Adams dying a few hours apart on the same day, July 4th!!!

At the time I couldn't make the notion of... both driver and passenger side switches have to work... (and either being broke kills the passenger window)... and swapping the two in a broke scenario fixing the problem... That hurt my head. A little. But now it doesn't.

It was a milder hurt, to be sure, than when the girlfriend describes her car's latest troubles...
Or of the last time she had it in for service. For anything. Absent symptoms. Ow. (there it goes, again.)

I found that you could simply clean the switch contacts and the switch would work again. Worth a try before you buy a replacement switch = $$$. FWIW.
