Default 928/968 wing mirrors on a 964?

Hi hi...just wondering if anyone has ever done this?? I came across some fairly priced used 928/968 teardrop looking wing mirrors and was wondering if they will fit my 964. Anyone any clue?

Yes, they will fit but the wire colours may be slightly different.

Wouldn't you need new bases for the mirrors? IIRC 968 aero mirrors have different mounting bases to the 964.

They won't fit. The door shape on a 968 is different than the 911. They will mount fine but will not be horizontal. They'll look like dog ears

I based my comment on their fitting on the guide provided here in which the bases and mirrors look identical to mine but others may have more experience trying to fit the mirrors on other models.

You can still buy the bases/mounts from Porsche. I don't remember them being that expensive when I put them on my old 944. Remember to make sure you get the right ones i.e. RHD/LHD.

Apyip. I have a pair of brand new LHD posts for Teardrop mirrors(in the UK) all you'll need to do is un-bolt the post from the 928/968 supplied and attach.

The required info is here. Just click on the "?" for the second question down on the left.

What do these bases cost, roughly? They're not shown on Pelican's site.

Anyone?

EDIT - Never mind!! Found them - approx $60 per base, so $120 for a pair.

You can also buy used bases, for about half price.

You're really better off just getting the late 964/993 aero mirrors. Not only will it be cheaper, but a lot less labor intensive. Separating the base from mirror, or let me say, connecting the base to the mirror is a PITA, and you'll have to also deal with the wiring. Not worth it IMO.
