Default g50 six speed on 964

does anyone know if ı can direct bolt on 993 g50 six speed transmision to my 91 964 c2 without any modification. sifter and axles are available? is it worth it?

I'll answer your last question with no. The US 993 gearing sucks. Don't bother.

A 6-speed G50 is a direct replacement. Worth is up to you to determine. I have just switched from the stock G50/05 to a G50/32 which I think is a very good and worth the cost change for a race car.

The standard US gearing for the 6-speed has a large gap between 1st and 2nd gear that's just plain annoying. I much prefer the 5-speed in our 964's. I agree with Ilko, it's not worth it.

+1 on what the others said about the 6sp. Rowing through the gears in the 964 is much nicer than the 993.

As w/ most blanket statements that's not always true

A search will reveal a lot of info on quite a few different gearing options

Some are quite nice to row though
among them
G50/30
G50/31
G50/32

and maybe even G50/21 for some purposes

then of course there are all the custom options, decisions decisions.
re-gearing either a 5 or 6 can be very satisfying

I agree with 68, I prefer the gear spacing on my 964 over my 993.
