Porsche Turbo 3.6
I have a 1994 964 Turbo 3.6. I understand this was a limited production vehicle. There were less than 200 produced for the US market. I am interested in confirming this information and learning more.

Most sources quote a figure of around 400 cars originally produced for the US market (there were more world-wide as for other markets they were available in both 93 and 94 model years)... but the guys who have been looking into this from the US side of things reckon the number of cars around *today* is probably closer to the 300 figure.
To give you an idea of just how few of these cars are around, there were less than 80 cars made for the UK market!
Personally, I couldn't quite stretch to affording a 3.6, so I got a year older 1993 3.3 instead :-)

Former Turbo 3.6 owner here. Great car. I sold it to buy my 964 Cup, which is even less common, particularly in the U.S. (Yes, I love 964s)
Good luck with it. The U.S. number is closer to 400 with the worldwide production around 1000.

I believe about 118 of the 3.6 Turbos were made to UK spec - so rare over here too.
gooner - forgive if I'm wrong but i think the 80 UK cars may be have been the 3.3 Turbo S that was produced in limited numbers prior to the 3.6 Turbo II
Give me a million to spend on a car, and this is what I would buy. Prices seem to be £40k and up over here now, shame that by the time I get to have that kind of money (if ever) to spend on a car, they will be even rarer and be worth even more by then!
Oh well... I'll never get one if I spent my days at work on the rennlist forums

Only 45 3.6 RHD UK cars , and only 3 3.6 S versions came here.
I believe there were six 3.3 S lightweights for the UK

This is a topic that will go on forever. The problem is nobody knows the exact number. The records I have show 1587 turbo 3.6's produced in total world wide. This is broken down to 650 1993 ROW cars 288 US 1993 cars M718 coded to revise VIN to 1994. 471 1994 ROW cars and 178 US 1994 cars.
Now the fun begins.
Out of the 1121 ROW cars who knows where these cars ended up. Spread out all over the world these included the ROW turbo S's.
For the 466 US cars we have no idea how many came into the US. Some ended up in Canada, Mexico and other regions in the America's. Of these 466 you need to subtract the Turbo S flachbau's and the turbo S package cars. Since these fall under a different category. There is also some controversy over how many of these were produced. Although I feel as do most others Mark's website www.flachbau.com is the authority on these cars. We have only the PDF memos he has copies of to go by and if that changed or not we may never know. His numbers show 56 cars in total (although he has pictures of unknown cars that may or may not be one of the others listed) so we are down to 410 or so stock turbo 3.6's. Now of these 410 we have to subtract the IMSA turbo's from these. How many were used in the racing series i have no idea. However, these cars were taken from the US vin cars.
My guess is a little less than 400 stock US spec turbos produced for general consumption. minus those that were sold to other countries we are down to 360 or more and then take the number of cars I have seen parted out or damaged with salvage titles, or turned into track ****** and we are left with about 320 +/- I would say. Of these I would think half are in A+ condition the other half who knows. So there seem to be about 160 to 200 to chose from circulating around and only a handful in unique color combos with the majority painted black then red then silver or white.

The USA Cup is effectively a RS. There were 40 of those.
I think there are <20 964 Cups in the U.S.

Does anyone have the specs/differences between the 964 3.6 Turbo and the 993 3.6 Turbo? Especially the HP ratings.
